Place des Arts offers students the opportunity to develop a life-long appreciation of art. Our objective is to provide a friendly, non-competitive environment where creativity and innovation can flourish.
Courses for children and youth are offered in sessions in the fall, winter and spring. Students are encouraged to take more than one session, as each session introduces new ideas, techniques and materials.
Along with classes in drawing, painting, cartooning and multi-media, Place des Arts also offers classes in the fibre and ceramic arts.
We have a fully equipped fibre arts studio, replete with floor and table looms as well as spinning wheels where children and youth can learn a variety of fibre art forms from tapesty and weaving to felting and more.
Our pottery studio is equipped with a mid-fire stoneware facility consisting of three spaces: the manufacturing area, the glazing area and the kiln room. Children begin with handbuilding and progress to wheelthrowing as they get older.
