Brighten Up!

We’re shaking up our winter celebration for 2012 as Light up the Square transforms into Brighten Up! a seasonal celebration of arts and heritage taking place throughout November and December at Carré Heritage Square.

Gather up family and friends and join us in brightening up the dark days of winter. Our popular Lantern Affair celebration will be back, and we've added exciting new events, performances and workshops that together comprise Brighten Up! Activities will take place at Place des Arts and Mackin House Museum, and we'll also be making a few excursions into the local Maillardville community with public lantern-making workshops.

Share your heart with loved ones by creating a personalized, one-of-a-kind gift in an art workshop; learn to make traditional baked and decorated holiday ornaments to adorn your home; be part of the global community during this year’s Lantern Affair ceremony, a multi-cultural celebration of light. Let’s celebrate the things that make us unique but together form a cultural mosaic!

Many events are free or by donation. Follow the links for more information about the workshops.
