Impromptu: A Kitchen Party promises to transport guests back to a 1950’s Newfoundland kitchen party to celebrate the life (and death) of Joey McCann.

It’s Uncle Joey’s wake and the whole town’s got together for a kitchen party to celebrate his life. But somethin’ fishy is goin’ on with Cousin Bobby. And when did Grandpa’s gold watch go missin’? Hmmmn . . .

Don your best party dress and new flannel shirt (leave all gumboots & sou’westers at home, thanks very much) and get set to scuff the floor at our kitchen party à la 1950’s Newfoundland—the land of ugly sticks, mummers and kissing the cod.

Enjoy Atlantic-inspired appies, grand silent and live auctions, a raffle and other fun surprises. You’ll also experience live impromptu entertainment featuring Place des Arts teachers, students and special guests.

All proceeds benefit Place des Arts’ arts education programs.

Since 1972, Place des Arts has offered accessible, high quality arts education in the visual, literary and performing arts to students of all ages and abilities.
